Powering Progress at Port of Seattle
Lights Inc’s partnership with the Port of Seattle began with a Small Works Electrical On-Call contract — a competitive opportunity that opened the door to something bigger. Through consistent performance & technical precision, Lights Inc earned Major Works Electrical On-Call contracts and ultimately supported one of the Port’s key infrastructure efforts: the Passenger Loading Bridge Electrical project at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA).
As a certified Minority-Owned Business, Small Business, and Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (MBE/SBE/DBE), Lights Inc’s success with the Port of Seattle demonstrates the company’s electrical expertise, safety-first execution, and commitment to delivering reliable results across complex projects.
Electrical Expertise in Action
Lights Inc has provided the Port with a range of electrical services across multiple facilities and projects, including:
- Electrical and data conduit installation
- Transformer and panel upgrades
- Lighting system retrofits and energy-efficient upgrades
- Passenger loading bridge electrical systems
- Electrical maintenance and troubleshooting
- Infrastructure support for airport operations
These projects required strict adherence to Port safety standards, coordination across active airport environments, and compliance with complex permitting and documentation processes. Lights Inc’s experienced electrical contractors delivered on all fronts—earning trust and expanding the partnership over time.
Commitment to Community and Growth
For Lights Inc co-owner Junior Segura, the company’s growth at the Port of Seattle is more than just another contract. As the son of Mexican immigrants and a former U.S. Navy Electrician’s Mate, Segura’s journey from apprentice to business owner shows what’s possible through hard work, dedication, and mentorship. “Being a Hispanic business owner in an industry with few others who share your background can be challenging,” Segura shared in a recent Port interview. “But it’s also an opportunity—to show others from my community that they can achieve the same dream.” Lights Inc actively mentors and employs electrical contractors from diverse backgrounds, creating career paths and opportunities that strengthen both the workforce and the broader community.
The Port of Seattle highlighted Segura and Lights Inc during National Hispanic American Heritage Month, celebrating the company’s contributions to local infrastructure and economic diversity. The feature underscored how Lights Inc’s technical expertise, competitive approach, and commitment to inclusion supports the mission of the Port’s Diversity in Contracting program.
Looking Ahead

From completing both Small Works and Major Works electrical projects to delivering critical infrastructure at SEA, Lights Inc has proven its ability to handle complex environments and deliver results that meet the Port’s operational needs.
