Lake Union’s Pocock Rowing Center

Modern LED Lighting for Lake Union’s Pocock Rowing Center

The Lights Inc crew installed new LED lighting along the interior and exterior of the Pocock Rowing Center building, located on Lake Union. The bright, illuminated LED lights at night have increased the building’s security and reduced energy consumption.

The project eliminated aging fluorescent lighting, replacing it with energy-efficient LED systems that deliver brighter, more consistent light levels while significantly reducing power consumption and maintenance overhead. The result: a safer, better-lit environment for athletes and staff — and measurable long-term savings for the organization.

The Challenge

The Pocock Rowing Center is an athletic facility serving youth and adult rowers on the shores of Lake Union. Like many nonprofits operating in older buildings, the center was running on outdated lighting infrastructure, a mix of fluorescent fixtures and high-intensity discharge (HID) lamps that were inefficient, prone to outages, and costly to maintain. The center needed a partner who could handle both the interior technical complexity and the exterior scope — and complete the work with minimal disruption to daily operations.

Our Approach

Lights Inc performed a full lighting assessment of the Pocock Rowing Center before any work began. Our team evaluated the existing fixture inventory, measured light levels across the interior training spaces, and identified the right LED products to match the facility’s footcandle requirements for athletic use.

All work was coordinated around the center’s programming schedule to minimize downtime. Our licensed electricians completed the installation cleanly and efficiently — removing old fixtures, running new wiring where needed, and leaving the facility ready for immediate use.
