Electrical Infrastructure for EV Charging at Mountlake Terrace Civic Campus
The City of Mountlake Terrace partnered with Lights Inc to prepare the Civic Campus for the installation of seven new EV charging stations. The project involved full-site electrical preparation, coordination with the City and equipment vendor, and restoration of all impacted areas to meet public standards and codes.
As the project’s electrical contractor, Lights Inc was responsible for completing all make-ready work to ensure a safe, efficient installation and long-term system reliability.
Delivering Reliable EV Charging Solutions
Lights Inc handled all site preparation, electrical, and restoration work needed for EV charger installation. Work included:
- Removal and replacement of asphalt and sidewalk panels
- Installation of new underground conduit (Sch 80 PVC) and wire pulls from existing panels
- Installation of new breakers and pedestals for city-provided chargers
- Coordination of required inspections and electrical permitting
- Site restoration including pavement, sidewalk, and landscaping
Once Lights Inc completed make-ready work and passed all City and vendor inspections, the EVCS vendor installed and activated the chargers.
Built to Code From Start to Finish
All work followed WSDOT 2025 Standard Specifications, the NEC, and the City of Mountlake Terrace code. Lights Inc verified all conduit runs, installed charger foundations per the ChargePoint Site Design Guide, and restored pavement and sidewalks using WSDOT-approved materials. Striping and landscaping were completed to match existing site conditions, making for a clean and compliant finish ready for long-term use. The team also managed stormwater and erosion controls per Washington Department of Ecology standards, ensuring the project met all environmental requirements.
The Result
The project delivered dependable, up-to-code electrical systems to support seven new EV charging stations at the Civic Campus.
